Case Study: Madrid to Zaragosa (Pharmaceuticals)
Our client required 12 trailers to load in Madrid and deliver to Zaragosa Airport to meet an Antonov 124 aircraft bound for the UK. However each pallet of pharmaceuticals was specifically labelled and had to be loaded in a precise order onto the aircraft for rapid unloading and distribution throughout the UK. Due to a bad and costly previous experience with a different transport provider, our client was worried that there was a potential for chaos in Spain for both the loading of the trucks to ensure that they were loaded in the right order and at the airport when taking the loads from the trucks onto the Antonov 124.. To ensure that the transport was properly managed we offered to send one of our senior managers from Dover to Madrid and then onto Zaragosa, to coordinate and site manage the operation. Whilst in Spain managing the logistical operation our client required us to organise several extra trucks to take excess load by road from Spain to the UK. Although this was a public holiday in Spain we duly found a solution and organised this with our Spanish partner, and provided the extra vehicles required. All trucks were loaded correctly and promptly and the trucks bound for the UK left on time. The trucks for Zaragosa arrived at the specified time and the goods were discharged onto the plane in the correct order ensuring no waiting time charged for the aircraft. Our client a pharmaceutical manufacturer was launching a new drug onto the UK market and their product needed to be in Chemists throughout the UK on a deadline. Our transport management role in this project helped ensure that the launch was on time and a success.
